Wake County Teacher Suspended After Making Students Take Invasive ‘Diversity Inventory’

RALEIGH –  A few weeks back we covered a glaring example of the social justice agenda of the Left manifesting in our children’s classroom. A Wake County teacher has issued an assignment to students in which they were required to describe the race, religion, sexual preferences, and other information about their families, friends, even their doctors. It was called a ‘Diversity Inventory’ and it is designed specifically to orient young students’ minds around the dogmatic social justice agenda of the Left.

That teacher was reportedly suspended for a week without pay last month over the issue.

From WRAL:

“[…] A Wake County high school teacher was suspended for a week without pay earlier this month after asking her students to fill out a worksheet and do a classroom activity about their sexuality, religion, race, gender, age, ability and socio-economic status. The students were also told to share the same information about their family, friends, teachers, neighbors and others.

Heritage High School English teacher Melissa Wilson, who makes $4,121 a month, was suspended without pay from Sept. 12 to 18, according to Lisa Luten, a spokeswoman for the Wake County Public School System.

Principal Scott Lyons told Wilson to stop doing the “Diversity Inventory” lesson after a parent shared concerns with the school last month. […]”

At the very least there was some accountability here. Too often blatant indoctrination and predominantly Leftists political agendas work their way into our classrooms and are never contested. Wilson will think hard the next time she considers pushing a totally woke assignment on her students.

(By the way, that $4, 121 a month adds up to nearly $50,000 a year. That’s above the state average salary, and just a notch below the median salary. Hardly an unlivable wage, as the NCAE suggests. Just sayin’)
