Donald Trump was sworn in last Friday as the 45th president of the United States. It was a moment to be cherished by those who reverence the peaceful transfer of power that is a hallmark of America.

Many Americans were breathing sighs of relief that the country had survived the last eight years under a president who often displayed a disdain for American values and freedom. Across the heartland, however, a belief that we will see America made great again was ignited.

Sadly, subsequent events unfolded that illustrated in glaring fashion the reality that is unbridled leftist hate. The presence of protesters during the inauguration was expected, and the Washington, D.C. police were prepared. Protesting is not necessarily bad, but some became violent and destroyed property, putting the whole event in a negative light.
