Matchup three in the first annual North Carolina Conservative Super 16 Challenge is here!
In this matchup, we have the 3 seed, Congressman Walter Jones taking on the 14 seed, NCGOP Chairman Robin Hayes.
- Congressman Walter Jones: There are very, very few members on Congress with the consistent record of fiscal Conservatism and courage of his convictions as Walter Jones. He’s such a nuisance to the Republican establishment that they’ve now spent the past two election cycles bankrolling the same establishment candidate in an effort to unset Jones. And twice the establishment has been wildly unsuccessful. Unlike the vast majority of Republicans in Washington, Jones beliefs, principles, and policies are not rooted in special interests, they’re solely rooted in the United States Constitution. If you’re looking for a true fiscal Conservative who constantly defends liberty above all else, Congressman Walter Jones is your guy.
- NCGOP Chairman Robin Hayes: During the 2016 election, the NCGOP under Robin Hayes’ leadership had two main objectives – ensure former Governor Pat McCrory was reelected, and ensure the majority on the North Carolina Supreme Court remained in Conservatives’ favor by reelecting Justice Bob Edmunds. But Hayes and the NCGOP failed miserably. And, quite frankly, if it hadn’t been for the fervor surrounding the Trump campaign, the NCGOP would have faired much worse. Regardless, Hayes has a long track record as anti-Conservative. From his time as an establishment politician to his tenure at the “centrist” Ripon Society, Hayes has spent his career working to undermine Conservatives. He’s even done just that as NCGOP Chairman when he injected himself into the Republican primary for North Carolina’s 13th Congressional District – a race which featured 17 different Republicans – in 2016 to host a fundraiser for his handpicked candidate. Such a move violates the longstanding policy of the state party to stay neutral during primaries. If you’re looking for a establishment insider to support, NCGOP Chairman Robin Hayes is your man.
