Despite the efforts of the radical left, Hollywood, and the Democrat Party, North Carolina’s 15 members of the Electoral College followed the will of the voters in casting all of their votes for President-elect Donald Trump in Raleigh earlier today.
For weeks, the radical left has petitioned North Carolina’s electors to “vote their conscience” and not the will of the voters.
One elector, David Speight of Lexington, told the Triad’s WXII News 12 that he received roughly 500 letters and even more emails urging him against casting his ballot for Trump. In the end, Speight said the effort was never going anywhere.
“The letters are actually quite sad,” said Lee Green, a Republican elector from North Carolina. “They are generally freaked out. They honestly believe the propaganda. They believe our nation is being taken over by a dark and malevolent force.”
Under North Carolina state law, if any electors would have violated the will of the voters, they would have faced a $500 fine and a loss of their position as an elector.
So long as other state’s follow North Carolina’s lead, Trump is slated to win 306 electoral votes, far more than the 270 needed to win the presidency.
