GOP Candidate For State Auditor Formally Requests Statewide Recount

Chuck Stuber, the Republican candidate for State Auditor, has formally requested a statewide recount of votes in his race against Democrat incumbent Beth Wood.

Currently, the State Board of Elections’ tabulations shows Stuber trailing Wood by 5,993 votes.

Kim Westbook Starach, the Executive Director of the State Board of Elections, sent out an email to all county board of elections officials Tuesday morning to notify them of the goal to complete the recount by Thursday afternoon.

The state board is scheduled to meet on Friday to certify the results of the 2016 election.

The race for State Auditor remains the only unresolved statewide contest, after Governor Pat McCrory conceded the race for Governor to Roy Cooper on Monday.
