CHARLOTTE – As the leaders of the Queen City double down on their efforts to host the 2020 Republican National Convention, a faction of hard Left Democrats have come out against holding the event in Charlotte in much the same way that ‘progressive’ college students can’t handle having conservative speakers on campus.
This kind of mismatch, between the Leftist bastion that is Charlotte and the Trump led GOP, was bound to result in friction. The closer the city gets to actually landing the convention, the more pointed the ‘resistance’ is becoming.
The Young Democrats of Mecklenburg County, in conjunction with the Young Democrats of NC, blasted city leaders for even placing Charlotte into consideration. The group can safely be placed into the far Left section of the political spectrum, with explicit socialist views and a knack for generating outrage at even the most subtle of ‘micro-aggressions.’
Their statement uses the typical assertions that President Trump, and the GOP by extension are full of vitriol and hate – a laughable assertions coming from political activists that thrive on vitriol and regularly stir up hate for those that dare oppose the Democrats’ anti-Trump agenda. For them, Trump and the GOP do not match the values of the Queen City.
Of course, they may have a point there. The city that sparked the H.B. 2 controversy when it passed an ordinance that would punish any city businesses that would dare to distinguish between the biological sexes in regards to bathroom policy is undoubtedly at odds with a president and party that are calling out such nonsense for what it is stronger than ever before.
Then the Young Democrats state that the positive economic impact Charlotte will likely receive by hosting the convention will be ‘outweighed by the civil unrest’ the event would foment.
But where is that civil unrest going to come from exactly? It will come from these very groups and their endless assortment of allies on the Radical Left that will literally riot because they can’t stand for political opposition to be in ‘their’ city.
Here’s a thought: perhaps these groups could make a commitment to NOT manufacture civil unrest every time someone promotes ideas not endorsed by Karl Marx. Maybe then the hypothetical costs to hosting this convention wouldn’t be so high.
Similar civil unrest was essentially threatened in Cleveland, Ohio when it hosted the 2016 convention at which Trump was named the party nominee for president. Luckily it never materialized in the ways originally feared, but something tells me that, despite the Leftist aim to disrupt and resist, President Trump would use any 2020 unrest to highlight just how ridiculous and intolerant the Left has become.
