RALEIGH – The Dan Forest campaign for governor is calling out the reelection campaign of Roy Cooper for a tone deaf fundraising email it sent out in recent days. The ad bemoans the fact that they’ve missed their fundraising target, and then asks supporters to please pitch in so they can quickly reach their self-assigned goal before their self-imposed deadline. It’s not necessarily the pitch itself — such emails are standard fare in campaign finance — but the tasteless timing.
Dan Forest for Governor campaign manager Hal Weatherman had this to say in response to the governor begging for campaign cash while the citizens of North Carolina suffer the destruction of their livelihoods by executive diktat:
