RALEIGH – North Carolina’s urban centers serve as bastions of Leftist thought and activism, and that means public school systems are often subject to not just a overzealous teacher hocking her Democratic talking points, but a whole school district dedicated to promoting social justice and enforcing Leftist dogma.
Wake County Public School System is a shining example of the agenda injected into public schooling. They have what they call an Office of Equity Affairs. ‘Equity’, here, is not to be confused with ‘Equality.’ While the latter means treating everyone the same, the former implies giving victim classes what they ‘need’ (justice) for success. Just the very existence of this office alone should be enough to sound the alarm for parents uninterested offering their kids up for molding as woke social justice warriors.
This is all paid for by Wake County and North Carolina taxpayers.
This Equity Affairs office also loves to promote its favorite reading list of socialist visionaries and communist reformers. Not just to let it be known, but to encourage teachers to use these materials as resources in the classroom.
#OTD in 1922, Howard Zinn, author of “A People’s History of the United States”, was born. Have you used @ZinnEdProject resources and materials in your classroom? Check out their website! https://t.co/MUgWqKGtZF

If you’re unfamiliar, Howard Zinn is a quintessential liberal college professor type, a radical socialist activist having headed up institutions of higher learning from which to spread his postmodern collectivism. He’s idolized on the Left for a warped “history book” he penned exclusively from the perspective of the precious victim classes – women, factory workers, African-Americans, Native Americans, working poor, and immigrant laborers.
The offered solution to all that ails the victims, of course, is a Big Brother socialist government; that’s what Wake County Public school leaders want the children of Wake County to come away with, if nothing else.
It’s hard to believe a taxpayer funded public school system can can have such a nakedly political component dedicated to indoctrinating children. For as long as such pervasiveness has gone on, it’s no wonder younger generations are friendlier and friendlier toward socialism. We’d all be better served by their re-reading and really learning the constitution and its honest history.
