‘Violating Kids’ Constitutional Right to Solid Education’: Parents Launch GoFundMe to Sue Roy Cooper Wake County School Board Over Closures

RALEIGH – A group of Wake County fed up parents have launched a GoFundMe page to raise money for legal fees to sue Governor Roy Cooper and Wake County Board of Education over protracted, unjustified, and damaging public school closures.

The fundraising description from organizer Carrie Flowers reads:

“The purpose of this is to pay for lawyers to fight against Cooper and the Wake County School Board for the re-opening of in-person learning at Wake County schools.

The lawsuit will focus on the right to a solid education.  It will focus on neglected IEPs and 504 Plans, failing grades, and kids failing behind.  It will also look into the mental and physical health issues that are increasing because of remote learning.

Thank you for your contribution.”

The frustration, anger, and helplessness of public school parents continues to build as elected leaders continue to entertain Pandemic Panic delusions with school closures, which persist to the obvious detriment of students.

While the N.C. General Assembly did pass legislation requiring all districts to offer in-person instruction — to reopen schools — the bill is opposed by Governor Roy Cooper and a veto expeted.

The N.C. Constitution specifically designates the provision of accessible, “free,” and sound public education to the children of this State.

That hardly means education should be the exclusive domain of the State, as the Left pretends. But it does mean that such widespread and extended school closures enforced by local public school system managers, and weak politicians in the name of irrational hysteria amounts to such a neglect of this mandate as to represent a critical failure in meeting it.

The effort to fund the lawsuit has a $20,000 goal, of which just over $6,000 has been raised so far. If you’d like for these “leaders” to defend their actions in court — in light of all the ‘Science and Data’ on COVID in schools, and the steep price our kids are paying for this delusional fixation with keeping schools closed — donate to the effort here.
