
COLUMBUS COUNTY – If there weren’t enough common sense reasons to make sure our elections are secure and voting integrity assured, town council races in Tabor City and Sandyfield ended in ties, requiring a coin toss to determine the winner.
From the Columbus News Reporter:
“In what was probably a historic first here, flips of a coin settled the results of two town council races Monday in Columbus County. As a result of the coin tosses, Nelson Lee will return to the Tabor City town council and challenger Randolph Keaton will join the Sandyfield town council.
Based on the coin tosses, Lee finished ahead of challenger Ronnie Graham in Tabor City, while Keaton won over incumbent council member Claudia Bray in Sandyfield.
