Trump Endorses Ted Budd for in US Senate Primary

GREENVILLE – Former President Donald Trump took the stage at the NCGOP convention in Greenville Saturday evening, and threw his weight around in the 2022 US Senate race with an endorsement of Congressman Ted Budd.

“I give Ted Budd my complete and total endorsement,” Trump said. Reportedly, Budd was unaware of the coming endorsement until minutes before.

Budd is in a crowded primary, competing against former Governor Pat McCrory and former Congressman Mark Walker. Up until this weekend, McCrory was ahead by a significant margin in most early polls, and appeared poised to lead the race going into 2022.

After the endorsement from Trump, however, and the coming promotions of that endorsement to voters around the state, Budd will most certainly get a boost.

Will it be enough? That’s a fair question. Donald Trump won North Carolina in 2016 and 2020, and carries unmatched favor with the electorate. Though, it’s still a long campaign trail ahead for the Republicans, and the Democrats.
