Tillis Backs Confirmation of Biden’s AG Nominee

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Thom Tillis is reportedly backing President Joe Biden’s nominee for attorney general. Surprised?

When Federal Appeals Court Judge Merrick Garland was nominated by President Barack Obama for the Supreme Court in 2016, Democrats blasted Republicans’ refusal to confirm him, on account that he was ‘moderate.’

Fast forward a few years, Garland is President Joe Biden’s nominee for U.S. Attorney General, and the ‘moderate’ jurist says this at his congressional hearing:

“Communities of color and other minorities still face discrimination in housing, education, employment and the criminal justice system; and bear the brunt of the harm caused by pandemic, pollution and climate change.”

He also said he would prioritize the McCarthyism afoot regarding Trump supporters and the advent of January 6.

That certainly doesn’t sound very moderate. And maybe he is playing to the crowd in 2021, but it sure sounds like Merrick Garland is Woke.  Tillis, though, doesn’t see it that way:

“After talking to him and participating in his confirmation hearing, I have no doubt he will serve with integrity, keeping the best interest of our great country in mind with every decision he makes, and will respect the constitutional rights and liberties of all Americans,” Tillis said in a statement. “Given his outstanding record and commitment to the rule of law, I look forward to supporting his confirmation.

Tillis rode to reelection by bear hugging Trump in the months before ballots were cast, after years of undermining some of his key policy aims such as stemming illegal immigration. Apparently he did not take his subsequent victory as a signal to defend the grassroots Republicans that put him in office against the Woke Revolution that seeks to drum them out of polite society, but instead to rubber stamp a Democratic president’s cabinet nominees.

Go figure.
