Sue ’til Blue: Democrats Push For Judiciary-Enabled Elections Coup

RALEIGH – It has been years now that Democrats have been filing lawsuit after lawsuit in a desperate effort to counter the electoral and governance success of Republicans. It’s just not fair, not for the sham racial/partisan gerrymandering charges, but for Democrats not to have more arbitrary power.

Yet, in playing the long game in the courts — while the NCGOP effectively retreated — has rewarded the Democrats with obstructions to throw in Republicans’ way and advance their agenda via judicial diktat. And now they have even more elected Democrat Social Justice Judges to deliver Democrats wins from the bench. It is in that environment the Democrats file a new wave of redistricting challenges ahead of 2020 elections the Democrats have no chance of winning on policy appeal alone.

Elections lawyer J. Christian Adams highlights the lack of merit in the N.C. Democratic Party’s complaints, Democratic Attorney General Josh Stein’s furtive orchestrations to avoid defending the State, and why the deck is stacked against electoral integrity and efficiency.

From PJ Media:

“[…] In North Carolina, the North Carolina Democratic Party is challenging a number of state laws designed to promote the integrity of elections and make election administration more efficient. The lawsuit alleges that black voters particularly like to vote early ahead of Election Day and therefore any restrictions on their ability to do so violate the rights of black voters under the North Carolina state constitution.

Attorney Elias chose the state constitution and filed in state court very deliberately because the North Carolina Supreme Court now is tilted 5 to 2 toward Democrats after the 2018 state judicial elections. One judge on the Court, Justice Anita Earls, is a particularly reliable vote for Democrats. She founded the Southern Coalition for Social Justice, a radical leftist public interest law firm that litigates against election integrity and any research to detect and report voter fraud.

The lawsuit demands that early voting be expanded by the courts so that black voters can get to the polls easier.

North Carolina Attorney General Josh Stein can hardly be counted on to defend North Carolina’s duly passed election laws. Stein previously engaged in ethically questionable conduct in pulling the plug on a defense of North Carolina’s voter ID law. His office has also been aggressively hiding the extent of alien registration and voting in North Carolina. […]”

Elections have consequences. Yet, when those consequences are not to the Left’s liking, they’ll gladly throw ethics and the constitution aside to claw their way back into power. Stein will conveniently be too busy with his high profile 2020 campaign commercial cases against Juul and Facebook, or his efforts to protect Big Government regulations from the Obama era, to mount a defense of the State and the legislature’s right to draw their maps.

In fact, not defending the election laws, as duly passed by the N.C. General Assembly, is kind of Stein’s thing. More than that, as attorney general, he’s actually served witness in court against the state’s voter ID laws that he was constitutionally charged with defending, earning him an ethics complaint in the United States Supreme Court. Do you think Stein will now mount a robust defense of the legislature’s authority to draw it’s own maps when it is Republicans holding the majority? Not a chance, which is why Republicans must respond participate in the electoral system to the fullest or lose it to post-constitutional Democrats and their friends on the bench.
