‘Silent Sam’ Security Costs Are the Radical Left’s Fault, No Matter How They Spin It

CHAPEL HILL – A new report out from the University of North Carolina revealed that the annual cost for security around a statue honoring the confederate dead, ‘Silent Sam,’ totaled $390,000. That’s a lot of taxpayer money to protect a statue.

Even though it is far less than the original cost estimates from university officials, which suggested it’d be more than $600,000, it is still remarkably high.

The real story though is why the statue needs police protection in the first place – Radical Leftists.

It has been defaced with paint, smeared with a crazy protester’s blood, and the focus of rowdy protests by a social justice warrior class of activists that are all too plenty on the Chapel Hill campus. THAT is why so much money must be spent on security.

But the Left, in yet another example of their backward thinking devoid of logic, is blaiming those costs on Republicans in Raleigh.

Irregardless of the arguments for, or against removal of this statue, the notion that the security costs are somehow the fault of state lawmakers that won’t change the laws just to remove this, and other statues is ridiculous.

Imagine having a really nice house, with lots of expensive paintings, collectibles, and toys. Your house keeps getting robbed, and instead of placing the blame on the criminals taking your stuff, the police tell you it’s your fault for having nice things.

That is the Left’s argument here – they aren’t to be held responsible for their threats and actions. No, it’s the Republicans’ fault for ‘inciting’ them via refusal to expeditiously remove an inanimate object from a college campus.

This is what you get when you are ‘so woke’ that your capacity for critical thinking enters a deep and oblivious sleep.
