WASHINGTON, D.C. – Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (R-CA) is the ring leader in an impeachment circus show, and in order for the show to go on, Democrats must control the narrative. That’s why Pelosi and Democrats announced after the end of their two week recess that they do not plan on holding any formal vote on launching an impeachment inquiry into President Trump. To do so would, both, expose Democrats’ insecurities behind their unified facade, and give Trump a chance to actually present the truth.
Pelosi and company can ill afford that. So they’ll keep the farce going lest more people catch wind of how full of it the Democratic shot-callers actually are.
From the Hill:
“[…] After back-to-back meetings with party leaders and then the full caucus, Pelosi announced that no such vote would take place. Democratic aides emphasized, however, that the process remains fluid and that Pelosi may reverse course and stage such a vote at any point in the future.
“There’s no requirement that we have a vote, and so at this time we will not be having a vote,” Pelosi told reporters during a last-minute press briefing in the Capitol. […]”
Pelosi cannot afford to have a vote because swing district Democrats mess up the math for the majority whip. Many of them don’t find the possessed drive for impeaching Trump necessary. We suspect Americans at large will come to the same conclusion, especially as their allegations fall flat while their own skeletons keep falling out of the closet.
President Trump and Republicans have been calling for a formal vote, noting the complete lack of transparency of Democrats’ impeachment theater. Much of the smoke and mirrors would disappear if an official vote was held as launching a a formal inquiry would allow for a defense of the president and broadcasting of Democrats’ transgressions along the way.
Don’t be surprised if Pelosi and company are still extending the charade this time next year.
