RALEIGH – U.S. Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) announced Monday via Twitter that he’s been diagnosed with prostate cancer and plans to have a related surgery in North Carolina next week.
Next week, I will have surgery in North Carolina to treat prostate cancer. I am in the hands of outstanding medical professionals and expect to make a full recovery. pic.twitter.com/HxdQuSyVtI

I am blessed that my cancer was detected relatively early, and I can’t emphasize enough how important routine screenings are, regardless of how healthy you think you are. I had no symptoms and would have never imagined I had cancer.

My prognosis is good because I went to my annual physical and received a PSA test, which led to a biopsy and eventually my diagnosis. Early detection can truly save lives.

Tillis was reelected to a second six year term in the U.S. Senate in 2020, one of the more closely followed races in the nation.
We here at First in Freedom Daily commonly share critiques of the former N.C. Speaker of the House; critiques that are warranted in that they relate to politics and policy.
As it relates to Sen. Tillis’ health, to Thom Tillis as a person, we have nothing to offer but sincere well wishes for a speedy recovery.
