WASHINGTON, D.C. – In our nation’s capital it is mostly the same story, different day. Because Democrats spend everyday on Capitol Hill it seems dreaming up narratives that demand President Donald Trump’s impeachment. A simple search for ‘Trump impeachment’ will turn up stories on Democrats making such calls through out his presidency. So many of those accusations have backfired (Russia/Mueller) that Speaker Nancy Pelosi publicly downplayed the chances of impeachment votes for while.
Now a throng of U.S. House Democrats are again calling for Trump’s impeachment over a third hand “whistleblower” account about a phone call the president had with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
From the practically giddy NBC News:
“One hundred and fifty one House Democrats — nearly two-thirds of the 235-member caucus — now back some type of impeachment action in light of President Donald Trump’s burgeoning Ukraine scandal.
The fast-expanding list includes 13 lawmakers who have come out in favor of action since reports last week that the president pushed Ukraine to investigate the Biden family.[…]”
First of all, is it news to anyone that at least two-thirds of the House Democratic caucus wants to impeach Trump?

Second, what’s that you say about the Biden family and their business dealings? Oh, that’s right, the press doesn’t really like to report or investigate that, except to relay that ‘PolitiFact’ said the Bidens were clean.
If the press did want to explore this subject, they might ask what happened to that $1.8 billion in American taxpayer funds that the Obama/Biden administration sent over to Ukraine, and then suddenly disappeared into the bank of an oligarch. Or maybe they’d be curious about how Biden’s son was suddenly on the Board of Directors for that very oligarch’s company, for which he had zero knowledge or experience. Actually, the universe of Joe/Hunter Biden scandals is rich.
But, who are we kidding? Such trails will never be followed by the Leftist press. The only mission is to get Trump, no matter how innocuous (or factual) the alleged transgression is.
The president, true to form, is having none of it and is using the opportunity to point out how the entire purpose of his actions was to root out corruption.
“[…] The president claimed the only way Democrats could defeat him in 2020 is through impeachment, saying “this has never happened to a president before” and “this is nonsense.”
Asked about the hold on military aid, Trump said he wants other countries in Europe to pay for Ukraine’s aid as well. But, he said he released the hold when “other people called me and said let it go.”
Trump has already admitted to talking about Biden with Zelensky and, in discussing that conversation with reporters on Monday, tied the military aide to the country’s probing of corruption.
“We want to make sure that country is honest. It’s very important to talk about corruption,” Trump said Monday. “If you don’t talk about corruption, why would you give money to a country that you think is corrupt?” […]”
Whether Trump asked Zelensky to investigate the Bidens or not — and his inclination to release the transcript hints that he did not do so, at least directly — it’s hard to see how even most Democrats could deem such a thing as worthy of impeachment. Alas, just existing in the Oval Office is enough for Democrats to want to impeach Donald Trump.
As the impeachment chorus crescendos on the Left, it will be interesting to see just how much of the subject matter is reported on amid the fervor. If recent history is any indication, this will blow up in Democrats’ faces and Trump will emerge with rising approval numbers and a deal for European nations to step up Ukraine aid or some such thing.
