Raleigh Police Officer Shot Multiple Times, Two Arrested and Charged with Attempted Murder

RALEIGH – No matter how tame a neighborhood may seem, our laudable law enforcement officers risk their lives everyday they put on the uniform. Officer C.D. Ainsworth is out of successful emergency surgery after he was shot multiple times while investigating a stolen car case. Two men have been arrested and charged in connection with stolen car and subsequent shooting.

From ABC11:

Officer Ainsworth, according to reports, is an N.C. State graduate. He was investigating a stolen car at an apartment complex off of Western Boulevard when the shooting occurred. The shots came from the stolen car in question, and Ainsworth was hit multiple times.

More from ABC11:

“Police arrested Cedric Kearney, 24, and Antonio Fletcher, 21, in connection with the incident.

The men are believed to have been in the car Ainsworth was investigating on Western Boulevard.

Kearney is charged with attempted murder, assault of law enforcement officer/police officer with a firearm, and robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Fletcher is charged with possession of a stolen firearm.”

Please keep officer Ainsworth in your thoughts as he continues his recovery, and hope that the lawless actions of the two suspects prove to be an outlier for the City of Oaks.
