POTUS to Push Bishop Past the Finish Line in NC-09?

NC-09 – We’re just a few days away from two special congressional elections, early voting is wrapping up (or truncated by Dorian), and candidates are making their final push. Luckily, for the Third District especially, worst case scenarios were avoided with Hurricane Dorian, but it’s harder to predict which way the political winds are really blowing in the Ninth District.

The campaign of Republican Dan Bishop has shared polling showing a very tight race. Tight enough that Nancy Pelosi pledged a massive ad cash infusion to fight Bishop off in the final week.

Bishop, though, has his own backup. With under a week to go until the “most important congressional election of 2019,” President Donald J. Trump is trying to give Bishop some MAGA momentum before a crescendo rally in Fayetteville on election eve.

Trump broadcast a fundraising email to get the ‘Right Dan’ and his message in front of as many voters as possible and get them out to vote.

“Dan Bishop, a FANTASTIC conservative who has my total endorsement, is running against a big government SOCIALIST hand-picked by Nancy Pelosi in the NC-09 Special Election.

The stakes are high – we NEED to win.

America doesn’t need more obstructionist Democrats who will be a rubber-stamp for Nancy Pelosi’s radical socialist agenda. […]”

The president will be in Fayetteville on the evening of September 9. You can still get free tickets here.

While the election in the Ninth is neck and neck, that in the Third is historically more conservative and thus a Republican victory is expected. Republican Greg Murphy had his own Trump event, in the form of Don Jr and his wife Kimberley Guilfoyle. Be that as it may, never say never. Special elections, with the lowest turnout profiles, are perhaps the most vulnerable to atypical results.

And that makes voting all the more important. Next Tuesday, September 10 is election day.
