POLL: Thom Tillis Least Popular Senator in Entire Country

RALEIGH – U.S. Senator Thom Tillis, fresh off of receiving a obligatory endorsement from President Donald Trump and getting a shout out from the commander in chief during his recent campaign rally in eastern North Carolina, is still the most unpopular senator in the country.

Mind you, there are currently sitting U.S. Senators embroiled in massive corruption scandals, yet they still poll better than Tillis. According to Morning Consult‘s approval scoring of every senator, Tillis comes in DEAD LAST.

In addition to Tillis’ pole position for the race to the bottom of senator approval ratings, he is joined by the other senator from the Old North State, Richard Burr. So, both of North Carolina’s U.S. Senators are squarely in the bottom of approval ratings. Burr, whose term expires in 2022, has proclaimed that he will not run for reelection.

Tillis, however, is currently running for reelection in 2020 and facing at least two primary opponents. Tillis may still enjoy a positive margin of approval among Republicans (+28), but about a third of voters don’t even know who he is. Plus, the level of distaste for Tillis among a huge chunk of active Republican primary voters is palpable. Just read the comments on this post to get a sense of it.

Primary challengers Garland Tucker and Sandy Smith will be working to make sure all those voices of the discontented Republican primary voices are heard next spring, and informing the rest that aren’t quite sure who Tillis just what kind of politician he is.
