RALEIGH – A new poll of North Carolina Democrats conducted by High Point University puts Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, and Elizabeth Warren on the Left’s leader board, in that order.
The biggest haul was for Biden, earning the nod from 31 percent of self-identified Democrats if a primary election were held today; 20 percent would vote for Sanders; and, 15 percent would vote for Warren. There is whole gaggle of candidates beyond those top three, but ‘Undecided’ beat them all at nine percent.
So what does this tell us? It seems to bring the picture in focus a bit more, but it’s the same picture we’ve been looking at for a while now. About a third of Democrats put their stock in an old guard, over the hill Democrat twisting himself in knots to pander to the Far Left, and the rest of them are, well, the Far Left.
Sanders and Warren are some of the most extreme presidential candidates we’ve ever seen in terms of economic and social policies. In short, they want to blow up the foundation of this country and replace it with the kind of Big Government socialist Utopia that has worked oh so well through out history.
While it is tempting to feel comforted that a relatively moderate Biden leads the pack of socialists, the boomerang effect of Democrats’ latest manufactured Trump scandal back on to Biden could clear the way for a truly extreme candidate to win the nomination. The Poll that came out Monday was conducted between September 13-19 and has a big margin of error of +/- 6.4 percent. That date range would not have captured any blowback Biden should get for being implicated in an largely unreported web of seeming corruption in Ukraine while he was Vice President.
IF Democrats care to explore just what the Trump/Zelensky call was referring to in terms of Biden and his son, that could mean Sanders and Warren assume pole position to challenge Trump.
