RALEIGH – It’s official, the narrative peddled by Governor Roy Cooper and the North Carolina Left, and gladly amplified by the media, that Republicans timed a veto override when Democrats were at a 9/11 service is completely blown up; PolitiFact has rated it ‘False.’
“Our ruling
Various media outlets said NC Democratic legislators were at a 9/11 memorial service when Republicans held a controversial budget vote. PolitiFact is aware of only one Democrat besides Gov. Cooper who claimed to be at a 9/11 event. We rate this claim False.”
Not that PolitiFact is an arbiter of truth beyond reproach; their truth-finders are some of the same Left-leaning reporters that help perpetuate the Democrat’s narrative whenever convenient. It’s because of that, though, that the ‘False’ rating is so significant, because it is confirmation that the claim made by Democrats and the friends in the media was completely bogus. It was only made to deflect responsibility for their own failures and smear Republicans politically.
PolitiFact had no choice but to label this cheap attack false, but as the story fades in the public memory what are the chances that Democrats and their enablers in the media actually account for it? Zilch. They’ll move on the the next opportunity they see to cast Republicans as Darth Vader.
They better not get too distracted in those efforts, though; Republicans in the Senate may hold an override vote.
