Pelosi Teases Sending Articles of Impeachment to Senate, Media Buzzes, But Will She Really?

WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said late last week that she would ‘prepare’ or ‘take steps’ to send the articles of impeachment over to the Senate. The Senate cannot move forward with their part of the impeachment process until the articles are literally walked over from the House chamber to the Senate chamber, escorted by the sergeant at arms. However, the House has to appoint managers and draft and approve a resolution before they can send the articles, making this a much longer process than a simple special message to the Senate.

So will the articles actually be sent to the Senate this week, or not? The impeachment thirsty media, chomping at the bit for progress in removing Donald Trump from the Oval Office, half expected the transfer to happen Monday. Yet Nancy Pelosi likely has more tactical moves up her sleeve to draw the impeachment process out as long as possible into the 2020 elections. After all, despite the back and forth over the minutia of a inevitable(?) Senate trial, the president will be acquitted and the Democrats years long witch hunt revealed for the derangement it is. No matter how the Left would spin it, an acquittal would leave Trump exonerated, vindicated, and victorious. That is definitely not what Nancy Pelosi, or any other Democrat, wants going into election time.

You can see them hedging against this eventuality already, with Pelosi crowing that Trump is ‘impeached for life‘ no matter what happens in the Senate. As noted by several legal experts, though, with out the completion of the process in the Senate to whatever conclusion, the president has not been ‘impeached’ at all.

So will the Democrats really send the articles, thereby giving up their director’s chair in the Big Impeachment Show; or, will Pelosi resist giving up the lead role in the Democrats’ last desperate act?

The media is still busy with minute by minute updates on this week’s impeachment breath-holding. You can follow their feverish coverage here for details on what might happen in the Senate should Pelosi actually send the articles this week.

A sample from Monday morning:

We’ll see if the Pelosi decided to actually send the article this week, or she decided to advance to an even more intense state of limbo in which she still holds the reins.
