LEE COUNTY – Sherry Lynn Womack, a school board member in Lee County attended a ‘Save America’ rally on January 6, 2021, listened to the speeches, and then went back to North Carolina with a group of liberty-loving conservatives that have serious (and valid) concerns about all sorts of political shenanigans in this country.
But judging by the reactions of those calling for Womack to resign in wake of everything else that happened January 6, you’d think she was on tape leading a siege into the Capitol.
Yet, an investigation reveals what Womack has maintained all along: she didn’t violate school board policies in any way; engaged in absolutely zero violence or unlawful behavior; and, like the overwhelming majority of those in attendance that day, find those acts of violence in question and desecration to be reprehensible.
From WRAL, who was all too happy to report on a Republican school board member catching flak for being the ‘domestic enemy’ the media is making Trump supporters out to be:
“An investigation found that a Lee County school board member who attended a rally supporting then-President Donald Trump last month but wasn’t a part of a riot at the U.S. Capitol did not violate the school board’s policies.
On Tuesday, supporters of Sherry Lynn Womack gathered outside Lee County High School, saying that she’s being attacked by people calling for her to resign when all she did was exercise her First Amendment right.
Womack said she stands by a previous statement she made on Jan. 12 when dozens of protestors gathered to convince Womack to resign after attending the rally.
She added that she “did nothing wrong and and have absolutely no plans to resign.”
“She is the epitome of an American patriot and a caring woman,” said Michele Morrow. “She does not deserve to be attacked like this.” […]”
Participating in one political movement makes you Woke and caring; being in the other makes you a target for expulsion.
Despite the investigation showing Womack did nothing wrong whatsoever, the sentiment by those still intent on ousting her is that her public support for Trump in and of itself is a problem for the county.
It’s an example of the political and cultural forces demonizing all Trump supporters and pushing to purge them from…well, everywhere. It’s McCarthyism in the new millennium.
Hopefully self-evident truths will hold strong, and leaders like Womack continue standing firm in their defense. Read more public reaction from the Lee County school board meeting, here.
