No Surrender in NC-06: Conservative Lee Haywood Declares Republican Candidacy for Congress in New Dem-Friendly 6th District

NC-06 – The the NC Republican Party 6th Congressional District Chairman Lee Haywood has announced his candidacy for Congress in the North Carolina’s 6th Congressional District. The district was one of the most transformed after maps were redrawn to satisfy activist judges and thirsty Democrats just weeks ago. Currently represented by Republican Congressman Mark Walker, the district is now 60/40 Democrat, and Walker is “exploring options.”

Haywood, though, is intent on offering voters a choice, despite the new map. He isn’t interest in letting the future just happen without giving an effort to create the one the 6th District deserves, as he makes clear in a Face Book post.

It’s good to see Republicans standing to fight, even when the deck gets stacked against them. The silver lining in such long odds in these districts is that they tend to yield solid conservative candidates unafraid to stand up for their principles. Live free or die.

While Walker explores his options (A different congressional district, US Senate?), Haywood declares he is ready rally the troops and lead another charge. Republicans may be outnumbered, but their cause is still a just one.
