NCDHHS: Students don’t have to wear masks outside at recess

NCDHHS Secretary Mandy Cohen, and NC Governor Roy Cooper

RALEIGH – That feeling you get a lot more often lately — of dissonance and disjointedness, like you are confronted with competing realities that make you shrug your nose or shake your head — may have a lot to do the fact that Pandemic Panic mongers have been pushing a fear narrative for over a year that is completely out of step with physical world we live in.

Exhibit A from ABC11:

North Carolina health department now says students don’t have to wear masks outside at recess

NCDHHS has made some alterations to its guidance when it comes to masking on school property.

Under the current mandate, North Carolinians are not required to wear a mask outdoors. And now, the Strong Schools NC tool kit from the health department has wording that reflects that guidance.

Face coverings are now only required indoors. Face coverings are not required when: students are outside for recess, a teacher holds class outdoors, students are participating in an outdoor P.E. class, etc.

Students are still recommended to where a mask outside when they are not fully vaccinated and they cannot maintain at least 6ft social distancing from others.

Teams of experts are projecting COVID-19’s toll on the U.S. will fall sharply by the end of July, according to research released by the government Wednesday.

But they also warn that a “substantial increase” in hospitalizations and deaths is possible if unvaccinated people do not follow basic precautions such as wearing a mask and keeping their distance from others. […]”

There has never been a time, since the beginning of the advent of the SARS-CoV2 pandemic, where it has ever represented a serious threat to children.

Moreover, over the last year or more, constant ‘science and data’ updates have confirmed that kids and teachers are safe in school. Another totally taboo hypothesis seemingly confirmed over the last year is that masks do not work to prevent or slow the spread of these respiratory viruses; a real world confirmation of lots of pre-Pandemic Panic science that predicted just that.

Yet, until this week, your Governor Roy Cooper and the Czars of Public Health mandated your kids be required to wear masks over their mouths and noses while playing outside for recess. You know, that designated time for fresh air and running around, after having sat still all morning (in your mask) at your desk.

That fact, within the context given above, is enough to make a parent’s head hurt while trying to reconcile the dissonance. The larger fear and compliance campaign is more than enough to confuse and damage children, and those consequences are on fully display.

Cooper and the Health Czars issue this guidance as if it is an act of benevolence from a ruler charged with absolute authority over the collective. If memory serves, there seems to be a heritage establishing that such authority is immoral and resisting it righteous, so please excuse us for not thanking King Roy and Czar Cohen for letting our kids play for recess without masks on.

Except, of course, they still recommend your young children wear it, unless they’ve had the vaccine….
