NC Teacher Suspended for Ridiculing Students That Believe in God, Segregating Class Base on Religious/Political Beliefs

JOHNSTON COUNTY – A Spanish teacher at South Johnston High School has been suspended after students reported she interrogated them about their religious and social views and then separated them based on their answers.

Making matters worse, she threatened them to not tell anyone about it or she’d withhold college references.

From Joco Report:

“[…] The teacher at the center of the investigation is Julia Lopp, a Spanish teacher at South Johnston High School.

According to students and their parents, during a morning class last Friday the first-year teacher reportedly asked her students to line up on opposite sides of the classroom based on whether they did or did not believe in God.

After the students were segregated based on their religious beliefs, Lopp allegedly asked the students if they supported or were opposed to abortion.  Then she asked her classroom if they were in favor or opposed LGBT rights and beliefs.

Lopp then verbally ridiculed students who lined up on the side of her classroom that believed in God. […]”

The more mainstream reporting of this event leaves a lot of ambiguity about just what the teacher’s angle was. The above accounts, though, make it clear where she’s coming from.
