NC State Board of Education to Votes to Implement Woke Social Studies Standards for K-5

RALEIGH – One of the most active, if not the primary, fronts in the culture war we currently find ourselves in is in public education. The infiltration of our schools by the critical theories of social justice that animate the Woke ‘anti-racist’ movement is expansive and incredibly consequential.

So Thursday’s vote at the North Carolina State Board of Education was an important one.

The Board, featuring it’s own enthusiastic social justice warriors, voted 7-2 to approve language and guidance documents that will inform the implementation of new social studies standards for K-5 public schools. This means they will incorporate the morally repugnant perspectives of Critical Race Theory into the official narrative of public education indoctrination in North Carolina elementary schools.

Meanwhile, the WRALs of the world are busy pretending the opposition to adopting this Woke education standard is an overreaction to a harmless attempt to merely discuss racism and discrimination.

This is a completely disingenuous take that intentionally downplays this controversy over trends in public education. It is a true disservice to readers that might mistake WRAL as an honest arbiter, but it serves the Left’s narrative and that’s all that matters.

‘It’s just some different discussions on racism,’ they say. Yet, that’s not exactly what these diverse parents of public school kids in other states getting the same curriculum are saying about what such standards entail.

While Thursday’s vote was a forgone conclusion — the Board already made its support for new Woke standards clear, and there is a decidedly Woke majority that is moving forward with implementing this indoctrination in the classroom — there are no shortage of increasingly vocal critics raising their voices against the cultural creep.

From Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson, to parents just like those in the videos above, it will take every available voice, especially at the local level, if this is going to be effectively beaten back to the fringe university faculty lounge it came from.
