NC Senator Berger Gets Under Eric Holder’s Skin

RALEIGH – N.C. Senate Leader Phil Berger pointed out this week that Democrats in the General Assembly are essentially asking for pre-determined partisan outcomes from new congressional districts, even though their lawsuits are fighting against pre-determined outcomes. The fact that Berger points out this hypocrisy apparently got under the skin of Eric Holder, who is helping involve national Democratic interests in taking over North Carolina districts. You can tell it’s hypocrisy precisely because that’s what Holder accuses Berger of; a sure sign of the Democratic accuser’s guilt.

Ever since the redistricting fights began in North Carolina, what seems like an eternity ago, Democrats have been arguing that because they make up a about half the statewide votes, they should get half the seats the state has in congress. You’ve heard the contention in one version or another: “We only have 3 Democrats out of 13 seats, even though we got 50 percent of the votes.” Holder alludes to it again above, because their talking points are all the same.

It’s an ignorant complaint at the very least  (we do not have a proportional representation electoral system in this state or nation and never have), or a willfully sinister one. The entire mission of Democrats’ ‘Sue til Blue’ push, when it comes to redistricting, has been for have the courts help force new maps that elect more Democrats. In other words, they want courts to pre-determine more election victories for Democrats.

However, even Democrats can’t get away with being honest about their push for a judicial coup on maps, so from the strategy’s inception it has been cloaked in terms like “fairness” or “independent” in order to seem innocuous. Yet we all know that such language is mere farce when it comes to Democrats like Holder doing everything they can to usurp a legislative majority via friends in the judiciary.
