NC School of the Arts Professor Blasts Admin’s ‘Orwellian’ Diversity/Inclusion Training

RALEIGH – The education field is one saturated with post-modernist schools of thought, and social justice agendas. It’s no surprise then that educational institutions subject their faculty to ‘training’ sessions that are really more like indoctrination sessions in ‘Woke Culture,’ but that doesn’t mean it’s not still concerning.

Campus Reform spoke with a professor at the North Carolina School of the Arts, whose name is one hint at it’s political and cultural leanings, that described that institution’s diversity and inclusion faculty training as basically using the writings of George Orwell as an instruction manual.

How woke is it? The training sessions in question are led by a Wesleyan University professor whose claim to social justice fame is developing an anti-racism and white privilege workshop for white students at her school.

From Campus Reform:

“The UNCSA provost said that the school had contracted Illinois Wesleyan University professor of sociology Meghan Burke for the workshop. Along with having written three books pertaining to race and social theory, Burke has also “co-developed and directs [IWU’s] Engaging Diversity pre-orientation program, a 3-day intensive program for incoming white students to deeply consider white privilege and antiracism so they can work as allies for social and racial justice,” according to Peterson’s faculty bio.

Engaging a workshop leader who sorts incoming students by their skin color and then subjects students of one race to three days of intensive indoctrination is all you need to know about this chilling effort to enforce closed-mindedness and eliminate diversity of thought on the UNCSA campus,” a UNCSA faculty member who wished to remain anonymous told Campus Reform. “I am reminded of the re-education camps and totalitarian regimes. It seems like the UNCSA administration is familiar with George Orwell’s Animal Farm. Instead of using it as a warning about totalitarianism and forced groupthink, they are using it as an instruction manual.” […]”

Isn’t funny how thoroughly the Left’s efforts to promote diversity and inclusion always seem to reveal themselves as methods to reinforce social justice dogma and demonizing anyone who questions it?

To that point, other ‘training’ sessions at the School of the Arts have focused on throwing out educational material from ‘dead white men’ like William Shakespeare, and replace it with more woke material from, well, not white men. No real concern over the relevance of such material to students’ education, just a laser focus on more ‘diversity.’ As long as that diversity thinks and acts in lockstep with the post-modern push.
