WASHINGTON, D.C. – Some Republican congressmen have had enough of the Democrats’ sham impeachment hearings, in which no transcripts of these ‘witness interviews’ are released and Democratic leaders selectively leak spin for the sole purpose of damaging President Donald Trump. So, they decided that just because they aren’t invited doesn’t mean they don’t have a right to listen to these unclassified interviews.
Among them were some Republican congressmen from the Old North State, doing their part to draw attention to the Democrats’ latest scam.
Of course, Democrats hemmed and hawed, saying the Republicans “stormed in” and disrupted the meeting. They merely walked in and took seats in the gallery. Committee chairman and wannabe Trump-slayer Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) did shut down the meeting because he doesn’t want the Republicans to have the benefit of what is really being said beyond the leaked blurbs damning Trump. After it all the Republicans scoffed at the Democrats’ whining at a press conference.
From the Washington Times:
“[…] GOP lawmakers brushed those complaints aside, saying the hearing they disrupted, involving Defense Department official Laura Cooper, was not classified, and saying Democrats have broken the rules of fairness by shutting them out of the impeachment process.
“House Democrats are bypassing constitutional norms and basic standards of due process with their impeachment obsession,” said Rep. Mark Walker, North Carolina Republican. “The president is not above justice. But, as you know, neither is he below it.” […]”
It appears that freshmen Congressman Greg Murphy (R-NC) was also among those demanding more transparency to the hearings, reinforcing his orientation toward the Freedom Caucus and support for President Trump advertised during his campaign.
The entire Republican congressional delegation should follow these lawmakers’ lead in demanding a fair and transparent process. Democrats may call them publicity stunts (they would know), but creating more publicity for the lies the Democrats are selling the American people can only be a good thing.
