RALEIGH – When you’re waiting for your number to be called at the N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles, you can now use that (long) time to decide what gender you want to list on your driver’s license. What’s that you say? You’re gender, or sex, is a determined by biological facts, not by your feelings?
Nonsense, according to the NC DMV. The News & Observer reports is letting you choose whichever gender you feel like.
“[…] The DMV has begun using a new “sex designation form” that includes a section where a licensed health care or social services worker can attest to the applicant’s gender identity.
The form replaces the requirement for a court order or a letter from a physician confirming that gender had been changed through surgery. The DMV has dropped the surgery requirement and allows a broader range of licensed health care providers to confirm a person’s gender identity, including physicians, psychiatrists, physician’s assistants, therapists, counselors, psychologists or case or social workers.[…]”
So if a 45 year old, 6’2”, biological male with a beard merely has to convince a social worker that they really feel they are a woman, that person can be listed on their license as a female.
Let’s set aside for a moment the insanity that a person’s sex is not determined by their biology. What happens when a crime is committed, and all that law enforcement has for identifying information of a suspect is that of their license? Do they put out notice for the public to be on the look out for a blue van driven by white female, about 6’2″ and 260 lbs, with a beard?
Obviously, as a liberty-minded person dedicated to the principle that one should be free to live life as they see fit, so long as they do not impinge another’s rights, it is not my place to tell another how they must live. However, when the postmodernist fantasy land starts being adopted by our governing authorities, and relied upon by law enforcement, it has gone too far.
Still, the move is doesn’t placate groups like Equality NC, who still propagate the delusion that transgender people are not somehow oppressed.
“The new form follows guidelines set by the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators in 2016. North Carolina has become the 22nd state to adopt them, according to Equality NC, an advocacy group.
“We still have a long way to go before LGBTQ North Carolinians are seen as equal citizens in the eyes of the law, but this is one step in that direction,” Kendra Johnson, the group’s executive director, said in a statement. “People of all genders shouldn’t have to face invasive questioning and surgical requirements just to have their government identification reflect their true identity. Trans men are men and trans women are women — period.” […]”
Got that? The movement is alive and well, biology be damned. And now the N.C. DMV is playing along.
