NC Dems Think They Can Take The Majority

RALEIGH – In an email blast the North Carolina Democratic Party celebrated a new record: For the first time ever, Democrats have filed to challenge each and every incumbent Republican seat in the General Assembly.

“The candidate filing period has officially closed, Jeffrey — and guess what? For the first time EVER, Democrats are challenging every single Republican in the General Assembly!

Hot damn, Y’all! I couldn’t be more excited about the excellent slate of candidates that have stepped up to take back our state from the power-hungry hands of Phil Berger, Tim Moore, and their rubber-stamp Republican caucus.”

Hot damn. The Leftist Party of the Old North State is hoping to capitalize on the whole ‘Blue Wave’ narrative that centers around opposition to President Trump. Historically, midterm elections have gone against the party of the sitting president, and a handful of recent special election wins have whetted their appetite. Some of those wins have come in districts that voted for Trump in 2016, but to be honest Democrats winning in states like Connecticut and New Hampshire aren’t necessarily indicative of the rest of the country’s races in 2018.

Still, Democrat leadership in our state think that, not only can they weaken or break the Republican super-majorities, but that they can retake the majority outright. At least, that’s what they are telling prospective donors in their latest fundraising email.

“Here’s the thing: Across the country, Democrats are winning deep-red districts. That means there’s a real chance we can break (and even take!) the majority this year — but we need to hit our fundraising goal each month or we won’t be able to compete in all 170 state legislative districts.

Contribute $10 before tonight’s deadline to help us meet our February goal. With your contribution, we’ll have what it takes to win.

Now, in reality Ms. Reynolds herself doesn’t actually believe this. They are merely pushing this pipe dream so they can raise more money from this false glimmer of hope. Hope for the Leftists that want bigger government and higher taxes and mandatory acceptance of grown men in your establishment’s bathrooms.
