RALEIGH – You’d think it would be front page news: A North Carolina man, caught with a van full of guns and explosives, was plotting to kill Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden.
Indeed, a local man planning to murder a presidential candidate, it IS big local news. Or should be. Except, the suspect, Alexander Hillel Treisman, is not a member of a ‘Far Right Militia.’ He’s not a MAGA-Hat-Wearing Trump supporter. He’s not even on the Right side of the political spectrum.
We can tell he is no such thing because, instead of blaring such identifiers the headline, the headline from the Washington Post looks like this:
Oh, look, no identifiers. We all know what that means. Yes; Treisman is a Radical Leftist. That’s exactly why it isn’t the subject of bold, above the fold, front page headlines pointing to his political leanings. That would be inconvenient.
The local media leaves out this fact, as well.
“A man was arrested in Kannapolis with a van full of guns and explosives with plans to carry out an act of terrorism, including trying to assassinate Joe Biden.
An order filed in federal court earlier this month outlines the plans by a man identified as Alexander Hillel Treisman, who also used the alias Alexander S. Theiss. Treisman is originally from the state of Washington, Kannapolis Police have said.
In the order, a federal magistrate judge outlined the reasons why Treisman should continue to be held in jail on child pornography charges.
Although, Treisman currently faces pornography charges, the order details a list of factors related to the defendant’s plans for a possible act of terror as grounds he should remain in custody.
According to the order, Treisman was arrested in late May, after employees at a bank in Kannapolis called police to investigate a white van that had been left in the parking lot.
“Through the windows, KPD officers observed an AR-15 style rifle, a box for a Taurus .380 handgun, a cannister of the explosive material Tannerite, and a box of 5.56 caliber ammunition,” the order said, referencing testimony from a FBI agent who investigated the case as part of the Joint Terrorism Task Force. […]”
This article provides a long list of evidence that Treisman was plotting to kill, but it leaves out the evidence that his being a ‘Bernie Bro,’ and that being a motivating factor in his plans.
Actually, you could read all of the reporting there and still not know why he wanted to kill Joe Biden. Moreover, you could read the entire article and assume that that, because the target was Joe Biden, the suspect is a ‘Right-Winger.’
And this is not an one time deal; there is a pattern of the Left-leaning media obscuring or omitting the Leftist politics of shooters and evil plotters like Treisman. Remember the attempted massacre of Republican congressmen at their baseball practice? The shooter nearly killed Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA). The shooter was a Bernie Sanders sycophant.
The misfits that were caught planning to kidnap Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer? Whitmer, a Democrat, blamed the rhetoric of President Donald Trump and the Right for the lurid plan. The suspects were anarchists, who had expressed a political hatred of Donald Trump.
The evil acts of Jared Loughner, who shot and nearly killed Congresswoman Gabby Giffords in 2012, was somehow linked to Republican Sarah Palin’s website ‘Get Out The Vote’ map that had target symbols on swing races. A brief reading of Loughner’s diary revealed him to be a disturbed and radicalized Leftist.
And so it is with Treisman, a ‘Bernie Bro’ with a van full of guns, explosives, and $500,000 in cash, plotting to kill Joe Biden. The media is content to report the facts of this case ambiguously enough so that readers can be excused for assuming it’s some crazy Trump supporter. And then they’ll drop it entirely, before the details are filled out, in direct contrast to the feverish investigative reporting that would have happened if this were a Trump supporter.
