NC Businesses, Governor Cooper Batten Down the Hatches in Anticipation of Unrest Following Elizabeth City Shooting

RALEIGH – The latest cause celebre in the cultural crisis being foisted upon America by Leftists intent on fomenting chaos means businesses and government buildings in downtown Raleigh are again preparing for a riot; boarding windows, locking down inventory, and sending employees home early.  And the shooting incident du jour happened 170 miles away.

An Elizabeth City man was shot and killed by deputies while trying to escape a warranted arrest via automobile. Local protests were immediate, the bodycam footage has yet to be released, and the shooting is now being adopted (exploited) by the same organizations and activists groups that have propelled mayhem and eventual violence in North Carolina and around the country for nearly a year.

Because of the track record for these protests — one marked explicitly with agitation that ends in orchestrated riots — Governor Roy Cooper is barricading the Blount Street mansion.

In Elizabeth City, the closed schools Friday, canceling in-person instruction, of which these kids are already suffering through a massive deficit, to clear the deck for protests.

From WRAL:

“[…] Barricades were up around the Governor’s Mansion on Blount Street early Friday.

Social media posts brought to light showed those seeking truth and answers in the death of Andrew Brown Jr., who was killed when deputies were serving a warrant related to felony drug charges.

There is no planned time or location for the protests. During the past two nights, a crowd has gathered in downtown Elizabeth City to demand the body-camera footage from the shooting be released. Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Public Schools are following a remote learning schedule for all students and staff on Friday, canceling all after school activities. […]”

Despite the lack of details in that report, there is plenty of ‘community organizing’ going on, with the same calls to action that seem to presage violence and destruction.

That’s abolition of the police, we presume, meaning these groups ostensibly intend on wreaking havoc until we just…get rid of the police.

In practice, though, the ‘No Justice! No Peace!’ mantra isn’t so much an ultimatum as it is a declaration; with these groups, animated by these ideas, there will be no justice and there will be no peace. So far, Democrats like Cooper seem to be okay with that.

Just as things were beginning to look up
