Nantional Spotlight: Reformist Republican NC Treasurer To Appear On CNBC

RALEIGH – Republican State Treasurer Dale Folwell has been shaking things up ever since taking office in January 2017. As the leader of an organization that manages $100 billion in pension assets for more than 900,000 public workers, Wall Street has a particular interest in the changes Folwell is making.

As such, CNBC’s flagship morning program ‘Squawk Box’ is featuring Folwell as a guest on Monday, April 23. Hosts Joe Kernen, Becky Quick and Andrew Ross Sorkin ask Folwell about public pension investing during volatile market conditions, the challenges of unfunded pension and healthcare liabilities for states and localities as well as his efforts to reign in investment fees paid by the North Carolina pension plan to Wall Street.

Folwell has cut investment management fees for the pension funds by tens of millions, has directed pension investments away from riskier asset classes, and is tackling a massive (and underfunded) fiscal liability looming in the State Health Plan.

He’ll appear on the show Monday around 8:10 AM, which can viewed on the CNBC cable channel, or you can access the lives stream here.
