Meadows, Jordan Tapped for Top Republican Committee Roles

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Mark Meadows (R-NC) may not be running for reelection, but that doesn’t mean he’s hanging up his jersey. Far from it, after helping lead the Trump defense behind the scenes and over the airwaves, the chairman of the House Freedom Caucus has been selected as the ranking member of the House Oversight Committee, while his Freedom Fighting partner Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) (who previously held that post) moves over as the ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee.

From Fox News:

“The House GOP Steering Committee met Thursday and recommended that Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan serve as ranking member of the powerful House Judiciary Committee effective March 12, and that North Carolina Rep. Mark Meadows take Jordan’s spot as Oversight Committee ranking member for the remainder of this Congress, Fox News has confirmed.

The full conference now has to ratify the recommendation, which was first reported by The Hill. Current House Judiciary Committee Chairman Doug Collins, R-Ga., will step down from that post as he pursues a Senate seat.

Jordan and Meadows were among Trump’s strongest defenders during the impeachment proceedings and served on his legal defense team.

Earlier in the day at his impeachment acquittal “celebration” at the White House, President Trump praised Meadows and Jordan as “warriors” — but also took some light-hearted jabs. […]”

President Trump thanked Meadows profusely at a long, informal talk he gave to GOP members of congress and his defense team. Meadows told the president, “We’ve got your back,” as the room applauded in agreement. Meadows certainly has had his back, and as a powerful member of the Oversight Committee, he’s is in position to continue to do so. This time though, it will be on offense as he exposes the sham the Democrats have attempted to pull on the America people.
