Majority of Voters DON’T Want Trump Impeached

WASHINGTON, D.C. – While the Democrats careen toward impeachment on Capitol Hill, it seems more and more that they’re hurtling toward a train wreck of their own making. That much becomes clear, at least, from the growing proportion of people that are against impeachment, despite the weeks long running of The Big Impeachment Show.

According to a Quinnipiac University poll released earlier this week, a majority of voters are opposed to impeachment and even Democrats are cooler to the idea than the feverish left-leaning media coverage would imply. Worse for Democrats, all the kabuki theater is actually turning off more people than it’s inciting. The poll conducted between December 4 and 9, during the series of House Judiciary Committee public hearings and after the House Intelligence Committee hearings, showed 51 percent against impeachment and 45 percent for it.

This compares to a November 26 poll in which 48 percent of voters said the president should not be impeached, while 45 percent said he should be.

In fact, the last time support for impeachment even breached 50 percent was in September when Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s hand was forced into announcing an inquiry she likely knew would blow up in their own faces. Now, with opposition to impeachment breaking 50 percent for the first time since the inquiry was launched, Pelosi and company are left to rush this through Christmas just to get it over with, knowing The Big Impeachment Show is galvanizing Republican support.

At this rate, President Trump might prefer the show go on until election day 2020. At the very least, Republicans should mount a transparent, constitutional, and THOROUGH trial in the Senate that trouts out every key witness the Democrats don’t want the American people to hear from and lays bare the stinking pile of dangerous transgressions Democrats have unleashed against a sitting U.S. president.
