RALEIGH – Governor Roy Cooper has really embraced the role of being patronizing when it comes to the Pandemic Panic. He says things during COVID press updates like, “Most of you should be proud of yourselves […]” for complying with his executive edicts.
Or, “wearing a mask shows you care.” When he realized a lot of people didn’t obey his recommendations like a good subject should, he issued another executive command to mandate the use of face masks.
Just travel around the state if you want to see what ‘We the People’ think of that particular bit of executive overreach.
What really drives Cooper crazy, though, is when his illegitimate authority to demand free citizens submit to his arbitrary and unilateral executive orders is very publicly undermined by public officials.
His 2020 opponent and current lieutenant governor, Dan Forest, for instance, has been holding in-person campaign and fundraising events for weeks. Many of the attendees choose not to wear masks and Cooper’s arbitrary and unilateral restrictions on mass gatherings are mostly ignored.
More in Cooper’s face was President Donald Trump’s recent rally in Winston-Salem, where thousands came out to make up a thick crowd of masked and unmasked people.
So, Cooper, wanting to lecture those public officials that don’t “lead by example” by heeding his commands, and thereby appear morally superior (“this is about saving lives“), tweeted out an article in which he’s glowingly presented scolding those public officials.
But, he instead of a chorus of thanks for the Dear Leader, Cooper got wrecked for his hypocrisy instead:
Our elected leaders and candidates should be leading by example during this pandemic by wearing masks and social distancing on the campaign trail. https://t.co/b5dtmEVtFN

Wearing a mask while you’re standing alone like in the picture above makes you look like an idiot, not a role model.

“It’s selfish to not wear a mask”
Okay… well it’s hypocritical of you to say so Cooper. pic.twitter.com/LP96rqSo8h— okay_kae (@okay_kae) September 10, 2020
