Illegal Alien with No License that Killed Local Father, Sentenced to Only 14 months

WAKE COUNTY – Securing the border against illegal immigration is a blatantly necessary first step in rectifying the damage done by illegal immigration. However, enforcing immigration laws and punishing criminals to the fullest extent of the law must also be an emphasis if we are to reestablish the United States as a nation of laws and order.

That’s why it’s so disheartening to see illegal immigrants responsible for killing citizens get off with woefully inadequate sentences, and it’s happening right here in North Carolina.

From BPR:

“On Friday a Wake County, North Carolina, judge sentenced an illegal alien to a paltry 14 months in jail for the hit-and-run he performed last September after he crashed into and killed Jamar Beach, 26, a black Raleigh resident and father of a 2-year-old.

Beach’s family was devastated, especially in light of the fact that he’d still be alive if the border had been secure enough to prevent illegal alien Neri Damian Cruz-Carmano from entering the country.

“He had no business here in the first place and he should not have been operating a vehicle,” Beach’s mother, Cameo Robinson, said to local station WTVD. “He didn’t have a license. So, therefore, he’s being treated better than the citizen who’s been killed.”[…]”

This is the problem that appears often when dealing with illegal immigrants. Much like the perpetrator’s defense attorney argued in this case, advocates ask for leniency on illegal populations because they are merely trying to make a better life for their families.

The man responsible for the death of a young father was working to send money back to his family in Mexico. He was also getting drunk and driving without a license, apparently.

But where is the ‘leniency’ for the victims, the families of victims, and the communities that bear the costs of illegal immigration? Where is the respect and security that citizens deserve from their government, a government whose sole purpose is to secure our individual rights and establish law and order? These are questions this family must ask themselves as they mourn the loss of this young father.

Making matters worse, this all happened in Wake County, where a new sheriff has come to power on a promise of suspending cooperation agreements with federal immigration authorities. Sanctuary Sheriff Gerald Baker has been following through on that promise, releasing illegal aliens charged with crimes back into the community instead of detaining them until ICE can take over.

So when this particular illegal immigrant is done with is 14 month stint for killing a man in a gruesome hit-and-run, will Sheriff Baker simply release him back into the community?
