Hillsborough Passes ‘Non-Discrimination’ Ordinance, Misdemeanor and $500 Fine for ‘Intolerance’

HILLSBOROUGH – When the common sense provisions of House Bill 2 were abandoned in the face of Woke uproars and manufactured controversy a few years ago, the replacement bill (HB142) retained some of its features. But only temporarily.

After provisions of House Bill 142 expired, Hillsborough has passed a new ordinance to prohibit ‘discrimination and intolerance’ against LGBTQ. It doesn’t exactly force businesses, under threat of fine, to accommodate men in their private business’s women’s only bathrooms, like Charlotte’s notorious ordinance, but it does threaten to charge employers and/or business owners with misdemeanors and a $500 fine.

From ABC11:

“[…] Under the new law, LGBTQ workers would be protected from employment discrimination and intolerance when patronizing restaurants, hotels, and shops.

Violators could be charged with a misdemeanor and get slapped with $500 fine.

“I think that is very important because when you violate someone’s civil rights it definitely needs to come with a steep penalty,” said Hughes. […]”

And if you want to know just how Woke this ordinance really is, just take a look at the praise it’s given by the seasoned Woke Warriors that drove the HB2 conflagration.

“[…] Equality NC says it’s hoping other elected leaders, including state and federal, follow suit — calling the situation a matter of life or death.

“North Carolinians have been ready for nondiscrimination protections for a long time. Without them, LGBTQ North Carolinians, particularly Black, Brown, trans and gender-nonconforming folks, face harassment and violence on a daily basis,” said Kendra R. Johnson, executive director.

Campaign for Southern Equality released this statement:

“We’re grateful that these North Carolina communities are taking the lead on LGBTQ nondiscrimination protections and showing how it’s possible to create a state where everyone can thrive. After such a divisive start to the year – with violent unrest at the U.S. Capitol and persistent attacks on our democratic institutions from our outgoing president – it’s inspiring to see our elected leaders coming together to consider policies that tangibly improve residents’ lives. This will make an immediate difference in the lives of LGBTQ people, from youth to elders, who call these communities home.” […]”

A matter of life or death.

Yes; just reference the daily front page stories of violent attacks on gay and transgender people upon entering ‘intolerant’ businesses and reporting to work for their ‘discriminatory’ employer.

It’s all nonsense. Do you think even one such act of violence would escape the attention of a media complex hell bent on pushing and justifying Woke Dogma across the sate and nation?

For good measure, they even throw in a dig at President Donald Trump regarding the false talking point of ‘incited insurrection,’ because the Left’s narrative must always be reinforced.
