Here We Go Again: City of Charlotte working with Equality NC, other cities to craft new nondiscrimination ordinance

CHARLOTTE – Remember when state lawmakers clarifying that a city or municipality cannot fine private businesses to force them to allow men in women’s bathrooms became a huge political/cultural scandal that earned national attention?

It might seem quaint now, in contrast to the unmasking of the Left in 2020, but it was a shot across the bow from Woke Culture Warriors just a few years ago.

Well, here we go again. According to WBTV, the same group that worked with the Charlotte City Council to pass their ‘Allow Men in Girl’s Bathrooms’ ordinance (which lead to the reactive and much maligned House Bill 2), is back working with the Queen City and other municipalities in the state to advance more non-discrimination protections, also known as Woke Rules.

From WBTV:

“The City of Charlotte is working with Equality NC, the North Carolina Metro Mayors Coalition and leaders from cities across the state to draft a new nondiscrimination ordinance.

Discussions about a new ordinance began earlier this month, as a provision of the bill that repealed HB2 banning such ordinances is set to expire in December of this year. […]

Documents obtained from the City of Charlotte show the Metro Mayors Coalition hosted a call on Oct. 16 to discuss the creation and implementation of new nondiscrimination ordinances in cities across the state.

The call, records show, included a slide presentation from Equality NC.

According to notes from the call, taken by the city attorney in Durham and shared with Charlotte City Attorney Patrick Baker, the goal of passing these nondiscrimination ordinances would be to prompt the North Carolina General Assembly to pass comprehensive nondiscrimination legislation that would cover the entire state.

The notes also say the groups plan to work with the NC State Chamber of Commerce, which is favorable to the initiative and that the groups will conduct polling on the issue after the election.

All of this is contingent upon the outcome of the elections,” the notes say. […]”id, referencing testimony from a FBI agent who investigated the case as part of the Joint Terrorism Task Force. […]”

If you were looking for yet another reason that the 2020 elections are of such importance; look no further. The Left is laying the groundwork to advance a virtual cornucopia of Woke Rules — for the workplace, for the government, for your business, for your kids in school — in hopes that elections will bring victories for Democrats who will enable their implementation.

If that happens, it will not be HB2 2.0, because House Bill 2 was a response from a Republican legislature seeking to prevent Woke cities like Charlotte from fining private businesses for denying grown men access to girls bathrooms, or middle school girls being forced to share a locker room with a boy who thinks he is a girl.

The only legislation a General Assembly run by Democrats would offer in response, as alluded to in these notes, is a bill to make the Woke Rules apply statewide.

What’s more is that the Overton Window, in just four years, has moved so far to the Left that the next push for such rules will be even more radical. In 2020, listing your pro-nouns is a virtual requirement for those on the Left, Critical Theory has taken over city centers and been used to justify violence and destruction, and all sides are expecting chaos and riots if the election doesn’t go the Left’s way.

The Woke Cultural Revolution is in full swing, and it is with that momentum that the City of Charlotte and groups like Equality NC hope to push us all further into an Orwellian world of ‘non-discrimination.’
