RALEIGH – According to an conservative blogger A.P. Dillon at LadyLiberty1885.com, Gov. Roy Cooper recently attended a fundraiser hosted by a registered sex offender, Chad Turner. Turner also happens to be a leader of the social justice LGBT movement in Charlotte, and was a key figure in the Queen City’s illegal trans-bathroom ordinance that spawned House Bill 2. So, the media directly associated Cooper with sexual assault against minors, right? Or, at the very least, questioned Cooper’s judgement?
Nope. They actually said nothing, content to cover for Cooper when he needs it, and cheer-lead for him the rest of the time.
Dillon documents Cooper’s attendance at the fundraiser hosted by Turner, and then provides a blunt assessment of Turner’s sordid past.
From LadyLiberty1885.com:
“Governor Cooper is flanked on this right by Chad Turner, who hosted the gala and who is the LGBT Chamber’s acting Board President.
Chad Turner has several aliases such as Chad Sevearance, Chad Sevearance-Turner or Eugene Sevearance.
Chad Sevearance is a registered sex offender and was the leader of the transgender bathroom push in Charlotte two years ago.
Sevearance was convicted of lewd conduct with a child under the age of 16 in 2000 and he was required to register as a sex offender for a minimum of 10 years.
The incident occurred in South Carolina in 1998. Sevearance was 20 and the victim was 15.”
Dillon highlights how Cooper’s attendance with Turner/Sevearance received no media attention at all.
How would the media have reacted if a Republican figure of similar status would have attended a fundraiser with a person of questionable character? Actually, we know that answer: the media ties said Republican directly to the character, essentially equating the two.
Case in point: Republican Lt. Gov. Dan Forest attended a fundraiser in the fall of 2017 that also happened to be attended by a controversial Word of Faith church leader. The church leader had preached anti-gay messages, and the likes of the News & Observer wanted readers to believe that Dan Forest was just as bigoted because they were (unknowingly) in the same room with each other. They even followed up on the story to highlight donations the Forest campaign had received from the man/church in question. Leftwing blogs said Forest liked to make friends with religious extremists.
The double standard is clear. Cooper goes to a fundraiser HOSTED by a sex offender Radical Leftist and he gets nary a mention of it among any ‘mainstream’ press sources, while Forest was subjected to smears because a person merely showed up at his fundraiser.
More than mere poor judgement in which fundraising hosts to approve, Cooper’s poor judgement extends into which radical faction of the Democratic Party he chooses to pander to. He is fully committed, it seems, to advancing radical social justice agendas and tarring and feathering any and all who dare to resist the post-modern world of woke warriors. These are the values Cooper offers as he makes another appeal to voters in 2020; are they yours?
