Fiscal Radicalism: Warren Campaign Says ‘Medicare for All’ Plan To Cost $20.5 trillion

WASHINGTON, D.C. – And that’s just according to detailed estimates from the presidential campaign of Democrat Socialist Elizabeth Warren. Imagine what the costs would really be if the Big Government healthcare for all plan followed the trajectory of every other government sponsored entitlement program in history.

“Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., released a detailed plan Friday that she says would fully fund a “Medicare for All” bill and cover every American without premiums or deductibles, all with “not one penny in middle-class tax increases.”

Warren’s campaign estimates her plan would keep combined public and private health spending “just under” $52 trillion over the next 10 years, in line with projections under existing law, but would require the federal government to absorb $20.5 trillion in new spending. It seeks to use efficiency savings generated by Medicare for All to cover the uninsured at a similar total cost and add new benefits for dental, vision and long-term care. […]”

First of all, wouldn’t it be nice if these ‘solutions’ to healthcare actually concerned itself with why healthcare and insurance prices are so high in the first place. But removing government causes of price inflation and artificial scarcity is never the name of the game when it comes to D.C.

Still, the notable lack of sticker shock expressed by Democrats and their media friends over Warren’s plan denotes a shift into make believe. The acceptance of such spending, even the spending the federal government binges on currently, doesn’t just discount the value of (other people’s) money, it completely shifts into a postmodern land of make believe.

Yet even if the Democrats like Warren want to put printing presses on warp drive, they won’t miss the opportunity to soak ‘the rich’ and those dastardly corporations. The socialist plan only pretends to pay for itself through current tax revenues, though. In reality it will be who knows how many future generations that would pay for such an explosion in fiscal radicalism.

Warren recently announced a campaign event in North Carolina, where our Democrats and governor are taking hostages for their own engorgement of government healthcare. Will 12 zeros of Big Government Healthcare earn Warren the support she needs in the Old North State to overtake Joe Biden?
