RALEIGH – Well, another election has come and gone in the Old North State and, despite Republicans’ many fumbles, Democrats still find themselves in the minority on Jones Street. So, what’s left to do but sue, of course.
Yet another lawsuit has been filed to challenge legislative districts in North Carolina, claiming they violate the constitution and demanding new maps for 2020.
BREAKING: We have filed a new lawsuit challenges the 2017 redistricting plans for the legislative maps for the North Carolina General Assembly as violating the North Carolina Constitution and seeks to establish new. We seek fair state House and Senate maps for the 2020 elections.

The motivations for the continued litigation over district maps could not be more clear; Mr. Elias’ Twitter profile says he is a “lawyer fighting to elect Democrats.”
Actually, the Left has had enough success in the courts by bringing lawsuit after lawsuit to enact political policy via the judiciary, it’s hard to blame them for going back to the well again. The recent election just improved their odds, after all.
This, right here, is why getting @earls4justice on the NC Supreme Court was essential.
This case will ultimately be heard by a 5-2 Democratic NC Supreme Court… and could give us #FairMaps without being reviewable by the trump-stacked federal court system.#ncpol #ncga https://t.co/6TSx6PjPSc

They even argue in their suit that the maps discriminate against Democrats to the point it can’t raise money, attract candidates, or win seats a mere week after it came out on top of and election after raising record amounts of cash. Do you think for a minute that an Anita Earls opinion isn’t going to find favor with such an argument?
This shows how far reaching the negatives effects are from the Republican power players completely dropping the ball on protecting the originalist faction of the N.C. Supreme Court. “Fair maps” to Justice-elect Anita ‘Social Justice’ Earls are maps that inordinately benefit Democrats at the voting booth. That’s why activists on the Left went to such great extent to get her elected, and openly celebrate her partisan bias, while ignorantly decrying a “Trump-stacked federal court system.”
New lawsuit on #ncga legislative districts as partisan gerrymandering, contending violations of NC’s Constitution based on equal protection, free elections, and freedom of speech & assembly. Something to watch with Dem majority on NC Supreme Court. #ncpol https://t.co/Ke9HB4qvyF

That’s why Gov. Roy Cooper has openly taken comfort in the Democratic majority on the Supreme Court bench, suggesting they will side with the Left and not necessarily the law.
And that means, slowly but surely, Democrats plan to wrestle control of the government. New Democrat judges, new Democrat-friendly maps, new Democrat majorities on Jones Street.
Here’s what a nonpartisan North Carolina state Senate map could look like. Dems have a great chance of seeing NC’s Supreme Court strike down GOP gerrymandering & draw a map like this for both chambers for 2020, which could give Dems **unified control** of state govt again! #ncpol pic.twitter.com/LW0BegoGcg

Republicans completely forfeited their opportunity to elect those jurists that interpret the law of the people instead of invent new laws when they failed to protect former Justice Edmunds and seemed to walk away from Justice Barbara Jackson.
Now we will all pay for it through years of political lawsuits and political judicial opinions, all to the benefit of the Left.
