Dan Forest Sounds Off On Sanctuary Sheriffs’ Reckless Catch and Release Policies

RALEIGH – While the great majority of sheriffs in North Carolina cooperate with federal immigration authorities, and do so with enthusiasm to get criminal aliens out of their communities, some sheriffs have made a political decision to shun the likes if ICE. As a result, week after week, confirmed illegal aliens who’ve been charged with serious crimes are released back into your communities instead of into the custody of ICE.

It’s asinine, negligent, and dangerous. Lieutenant Governor Dan Forest, running to unseat Roy ‘Sanctuary’ Cooper in 2020, makes clear where he stands on the issue.

Do you agree with Forest that these individuals should be held to account for breaking federal laws, not be released right back into our communities? Or should Governor Cooper and the Sanctuary Sheriffs be commended for making illegal immigrant communities in Mecklenburg County feel more comfortable?

The difference in approaches between voters’ likely 2020 choices for governor could not be more clear.
