Court Clears Trump Travel Ban…Temporarily

WASHINGTON, D.C. – After months of lawsuits, injunctions, and plenty of spin about what the Left has deemed a ‘Muslim Travel Ban’, the U.S. Supreme Court will allow the Trump administration travel ban be in full force while other challenges work their way through the legal system.

“Challenges to the policy are winding through the federal courts, and the justices themselves ultimately are expected to rule on whether the ban is legal. It applies to travelers from Chad, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria and Yemen.

The justices offered no explanation for their action Monday. The Trump administration had said that blocking the full ban was causing “irreparable harm” because the policy is based on legitimate national security and foreign policy concerns.

The order indicates that the high court might eventually approve the latest version of the ban, announced by President Donald Trump in September. Lower courts have continued to find problems with it.

A presidential spokesman, Hogan Gidley, said the White House was “not surprised” that the court permitted “immediate enforcement of the president’s proclamation limiting travel from countries presenting heightened risks of terrorism.””

The Left while spew nonsense about Trump being bigoted against Muslims, they conveniently ignore facts that demonstrate the ban is indeed about national security.

The legal challenge focused on these six countries on the list because they were majority Muslim countries. Their whole rhetorical push rests on making jurists and the public believe the travel ban was essentially a Muslim ban.

There are two giant holes in this argument.

One being that North Korea and, to a lesser degree, Venezuela are also on the list of countries subject to a travel ban. They earned their spot on the list for the same national security reasons that the Muslim majority nations are on the list.

But that would unravel the Left’s narrative of Trump as a bigot against Muslims instead of a Commander-in-Chief interested in keeping the country safe, so they want you to forget that.

The other breakdown is demonstrated by the fact that if this were a ‘Muslim Ban’ it would be a poorly designed one. Of the six countries on the list, only one (Iran) is in the top ten most populous Muslim countries.

Wouldn’t a ‘Muslim Ban’ also restrict travel for individuals coming from, say, Indonesia, the most populous Muslim country in the world?

The Left will do anything to paint Conservatives and others on the Right as bigoted, homophobic, jingoists that equate to Nazis. Luckily, there is still a semblance of law and order and common sense among Americans and public servants to push back against such absurdities every now and again.

Beyond the temporary travel ban enforcement, one wonders if the Trump administration has constructed a more permanent immigration plan that they promised within 90 days of the first blanket travel ban. That would make this court challenge a moot point, and make our nation’s security more certain going forward.
