Corona Chaos: While Cooper Orders NC Lock Down, Mecklenburg County is Letting Inmates Out of Jail Early

CHARLOTTE – How bad is the fear surrounding the outbreak of the Wuhan coronavirus? They’re literally scrambling to free jail inmates in Mecklenburg County. Seriously.

From the Charlotte Observer:

“[…] As the Carolinas publicly scramble to limit the spread of the coronavirus, Mecklenburg County’s criminal justice system has begun quietly reducing the inmate population at its uptown jail.

As of Tuesday, about four dozen of the jail’s 1,600 occupants have been scheduled for release, part of an ongoing case-by-case analysis by judges, prosecutors and defense attorneys of who needs to be in custody during the emerging pandemic and who does not.

More releases are expected in the coming days. […]”

Mecklenburg County Sheriff Garry McFadden already wantonly frees known criminal illegal aliens instead of detaining them for ICE, so this isn’t all that surprising, especially since nothing is quite out of bounds during the 2020 Pandemic Response Crisis.

Mecklenburg is not alone; other jurisidictions around the country, also run by liberal Democrats, are reportedly releasing inmates in an effort to avoid ‘cell block outbreaks.’

So, while North Carolinians around the state are placed on lock down by Cooper’s executive decrees; encouraged to social distance, isolate, and quarantine; they are literally letting inmates out of jail early. Imagine that.
