ELIZABETH CITY – The conclusion of the Derek Chauvin trial didn’t so much offer a respite from tensions as it magnified every instance that could possibly be exploited to fuel the fire of protests and Woke cultural upheavals. North Carolina is now in the national spotlight after Pasquotank County Sheriffs Deputies shot a man while serving a warrant.
Andrew Brown — a black man, a fact only relevant it seems in that it fits the narrative du jour — was reportedly tried to evade deputies in his car as they closed in and was driving away when shots were fired. No other details have been released; the case has been turned over to the SBI; and, bodycam footage, reportedly capturing the entire incident, will eventually be released.
No matter, for others. Protests have already erupted. Family grieving and hysteria is understandable, but the protests quickly swelled to hundreds of people, gaining national attention and BLM framing before any real facts have been revealed.
We’ll wait for those facts; they always seem to clarify. That won’t stop this from adding to the collective narrative, though.
It’s getting the typical treatment from CNN:
“[…] Christian Gilyard, who lives down the street from the shooting, told CNN that he wants the deputy to stand trial.
He said he didn’t know Brown but will call him a brother because what happened to Brown could have just as well happen to him.
“My anger right now. Yes it’s toward the officer, but it’s more so toward the justice system,” he said. “We’re not getting out due processes.”
Video recorded Wednesday morning near the scene of the shooting by CNN affiliate WTKR shows dozens of people gathered. Some in the crowd could be heard chanting, “No justice, no peace.”
One person held a sign with the handwritten words “Black Lives Matter” and another had written “Mothers Against Gun Violence.”[…]”
Brown had 10 children, and that they should grow up without a father is truly tragic, but blaming the justice system at large and these police specifically for wantonly killing the man in some part at least because he’s black is foolish when the facts are not known.
The situation in Columbus, Ohio demonstrates this perfectly. Celebrities like Lebron James were ready to lead a mob to that police officer’s door before body cam footage proved he SAVED A GIRL’S LIFE, shooting the person about to plunge a knife into her chest after repeated warnings he would shoot.
In this instance the bodycam footage will also prove revealing, no doubt.
Meanwhile, the media has shown relatively little interest in an even sadder and more alarming shooting in North Carolina. In south suburban Wake County, someone drove up to a house Wednesday morning, fired at least eight shots into the home, and
struck a four year old girl, “around her head area,” according to the sheriff. No one else was struck.
Luckily the girl is alive, requiring emergency surgeries.
Similar news reports emerge from high crime locales around North Carolina on an all too regular basis.
The difference in treatment between these two stories, both tragic in their own way, says everything you need to know about what really provides the motive force behind the tumult, and why. It is not that people are dying senselessly in this community or that, it is only ever an attack to advance the Left’s radical Woke agenda.
