RALEIGH – Well it looks like Sen. Thom Tillis has someone in his amnesty corner, and, wouldn’t you know it, it’s North Carolina’s top Leftist Gov. Roy Cooper
Children brought to this country through no fault of their own deserve better. Today, Governor Cooper signed on to a bipartisan letter urging Congress support DACA recipients. https://t.co/utyKHQYH6i pic.twitter.com/jc1COrbSzk

In the letter, Cooper and his comrades employ the tried and true liberal tactics of tugging on heart strings, urging compassion, and painting an overly simplistic picture of just how good all DACA recipients are for our communities.
“We stand with these young American immigrants not only because it is good for our communities and a strong American 21st century economy, but also because it is the right thing for our nation to do.
As you know, DACA recipients have subjected themselves to extensive background and security checks in order to work and attend college. They are studying to be teachers, doctors and scientists at our universities. They are working to support themselves and their families, paying taxes and contributing to their communities in a myriad of ways. In the absence of congressional action providing for a permanent resolution, the termination of DACA puts these young people and their families in peril, and will destabilize our schools, workplaces and communities.”
No doubt there are plenty of good and honest people within the DACA population, but how is it advisable to give the group a blanket amnesty when those ‘extensive background checks’ haven’t been able to weed out the more than a few bad apples?
“On the eve of President Trump deciding the status of the Obama era program deferring deportation for nearly 800,000 mostly Latin American young adults, federal immigration authorities are revealing a surge in those losing their freedom “due to criminality or gang affiliation concerns.”
Officials told Secrets that the number has surged 30 percent this year.
[…]
According to USCIS, “The deferred action terminations were due to one or more of the following: a felony criminal conviction; a significant misdemeanor conviction; multiple misdemeanor convictions; gang affiliation; or arrest of any crime in which there is deemed to be a public safety concern. Most DACA terminations were based on the following infractions (not ranked): alien smuggling, assaultive offenses, domestic violence, drug offenses, DUI, larceny and thefts, criminal trespass and burglary, sexual offenses with minors, other sex offenses and weapons offenses.”
All doctors, teachers, and scientists, huh? No matter what the rate of criminality in the DACA population, it is dishonest to intimate that America must give them a permanent pass for breaking immigration law because they are all otherwise upstanding citizens. It’s just not true, and the more the Left tries to act like it is, the more we open ourselves up to future immigration troubles.
Keep it up, Cooper. 2020 is not too far away.
